Do Not Consume addresses the relationship between the notion of perfection and how its pursuit can sometimes lead to an obsession. With the "perfect apple" being in the centre, it stood with the other apples as a role model. Yet at the same time, it is a standard that is unreachable. By repeating the act of drawing the same apple over and over in hopes of achieving the perfect apple, Ying Xian incorporates the process of a repeated action as an obsession into an expression of her feelings towards the unachievable strive for perfection in her daily life. The need for perfection has been investigated in the making of Do Not Consume.

These new issues have emerged in response to such a pace, people fret more often than ever; unsure of whether they will able to keep up with society's standards or be left behind as a result.

Placing myself in The Ideal imaginary Supermarket, “Overload” depicts the ramifications of rapid progress, when people are “in transit”, juggling social demands and personal needs. Imagine being able to purchase a product that is able to deal with the consequences of our ever-changing society.

Mighty Jaxx is an award-winning integrated future culture platform that designs and produces digital and phygital collectibles in partnership with the greatest talents in the world, as well as global brands such as Netflix, Formula 1, Hasbro, Toei Animation, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Warner Brothers, Adidas and more.

My experience at Mighty Jaxx has exposed me to various pillars within the collectible industry, from working on product launches, Metaverse projects, to Merchandising and Spaces design. The experience of working with various IPs and fandoms to bring a collectible to a fan, is a unique working takeaway I've received from Mighty Jaxx.
KEY VISUAL DESIGN

Weekly product launches are always accompanied with graphical assets for social media platforms and ads.
The Key visual designs required art direction and digital imaging skills, as well as knowledge of the artist and/or IP involved, to bring out the best representation for the product to our collectors.

SPACES

As a product-oriented brand, Mighty Jaxx frequently has brand activations and retail spaces where our products are showcased and/or sold. These spaces range from semi-permanent retail spaces to short term conventions/exhibitions. Regardless of duration, it remains crucial to apply the Mighty Jaxx branding across these spaces, where new visitors and existing fans of Mighty Jaxx can converge - to build brand loyalty for existing fans and to engage new visitors to join us on the Mighty Jaxx collecting experience

The theme for SGCC 2023 is Mighty Street, a town-like area that has various shopfronts serving different functions. The open areas allow for the street theme to be free-flowing, while being flexible enough to house the variety of showcases planned for this year, namely: partner products and the custom artist Syndicat toy showcase.
New York Comic Con 2022

The theme conceptualised and chosen for NYCC, is a bodega theme, to pay homage to the street scenes of New York. Street cones, signages, standees and newspaper dispensers are added in as supporting props to boost the overall concept.

To accommodate the needs of our incoming retail partners, the Mighty Street concept has been expanded onto other spaces. These spaces include Landmark 81, EMsphere Mall, Vincom Mega Mall, Vinpearl Theme Park and our Teragon Flagship store. Mockups, moodboards and a deck was made to give our partners a better sense of the Mighty Street concept, such that the external designers can adapt based on the proposed look and feel for Mighty Street. Depending on the space and unique aspects of the areas, the Mighty Street concept is applied to best fit within the requirements (e.g. narrow walkways, use of shipping containers from our partners)

Vending Machine
In late 2023, Mighty Jaxx looked into the Vending Machine Retail Experience to engage fans through our blindbox products. Our latest and popular IP blindbox series features One Piece, with Luffy in his iconic Gear 5.
To further highlight our One Piece blindbox product line, the entire machine is designed to be a visualisation of the Unboxing Experience. The machine itself, bears the actual designs of the One Piece series packaging design, while being stocked with only One Piece products.
To keep the Mighty Jaxx branding present, a "Funboxx" topper was added in as well, to introduce our new branding for our Mighty Jaxx blindbox brand.

Booth
Concepts are often the key to Mighty Jaxx's booth spaces. Spaces are often made to look fun and engaging from a distance and up close. While not all concepts end up in actualisation, the ones that have been left on the drawing board are still noteworthy enough to be considered for future projects.

As with any product company, VM is crucial for our brand to create awareness, engage audiences and to eventually establish brand loyalty. My role involved the designing and art direction of our VM displays, while working within the requirements of the specific IPs as well as the retail venue/space.

Shrek +
Minions
With the Shrek and Minions attractions present in Universal Studios Singapore, Mighty Jaxx's Shrek and Minions products are placed for sale within the retail spaces in the themepark. Themed environment display cases, encasing the entire blindbox range, have tripled the sale of our blindboxes within USS. These themed environments are crucial to blindbox series as they give consumers an actual visualisation of the scale and material, while holistically representing the product range.
Retail VM
for Sanrio and One Piece
To display and sell our top 2 IP product ranges - Sanrio and One Piece, free standing display units and display cases were made to be placed in retail spaces. The art direction for these 2 IPs, borrows the look and feel of the specific fandom, and is then translated into appropriate forms to house our Sanrio and One Piece products. Within the display cases, props are also designed with the environment in mind, to keep the look true to the IP.

The One Piece Series 6, featuring Luffy's Gear 5, is a favourite amongst fans. The series is slated to be expanded to more retail spaces such as our partners in Taiwan, Vietnam and locally - Toys "R" Us. Endcap gondolas, floor stickers and headerbords are a staple in toy retail locations, and hence, a retail guide with our Key Visual design is created for our partners to engage consumers and promote our latest One Piece blindbox series.
Funboxx
Steps
Display
To serve our retailers better, each of our blindbox range has an accompanying VM Step design case. Consumers can have a better sense of the size, scale, colour and finishing of the toy, when they are on display. The steps are designed to be as a compact form of display for space-saving on shelves that have limited spaces. The design of each case is in sync with their respective packaging.

Mighty Meta is a collection of immersive extended experiences for the Metaverse built on Ethereum. Aside from its foray into the Metaverse, Mighty Jaxx entered the NFT space back in 2019.
My role within Mighty Meta involved primarily NFT designs, some are for Mighty Jaxx’s partners and others are for our Mighty Meta’s releases.
META: NFT DESIGNS

Mighty Meta is the pillar that oversaw the bulk of Mighty Jaxx's NFT projects. While considering the dynamics of how NFTs are collected and minted, design decisions such as the intricacy tiered to each rarity, and the generative aspect of the NFT project (if applicable) becomes key.

The Genesis NFT Collection is a pair of NFTs designed for our partner, The Barn, a restaurant and wine bar. The direction taken here is to feature their food in a modular cube-like design, to highlight the fine details taken when crafting their food and beverages.

frgmnts
frgmnts is a NFT series created by Mighty Meta for Mighty Jaxx's various events and exhibitions - such as DCon, Thailand Comic Con and ComplexCon. The NFTs are designed with the base concept of a floating fragment island, a common denominator with the other frgmnts NFTs. The NFTs have 3 tiers: Common, Uncommon and Rare. As the rarity increases, the elements and intricacy of the frgmnt increases. The design of all 3 frgmnts are reflective of the actual booth design where the frgmnts NFT is being distributed and minted.

Doge to the Moon is a generative NFT series by Mighty Meta. Working with a concept artist, we created the drawings and brought them to vectorised forms. Each Doge is adorned with one of each:
Headgear, Top, Bottom, Jetpack, Flame and Background .

Mighty Allstars partners with world-class teams, athletes, and sporting events, to create limited edition designer collectibles to power up fandom experiences across various sports.

Being in Mighty Allstars has allowed me to get closer to a niche fandom and to understand how to best deliver the sports fandom with Mighty Allstars brand in a unified manner.
SPORTS PROJECTS

Sports projects require a knowledge of niche fandoms across multiple areas, such as Racing, Soccer and Basketball.
It is important to also keep in mind of our core clientele here to be mostly male collectors, and hence, to design the Mighty Allstars deliverables with a male-centric aesthetic, yet to be general enough not be too exclusive.

Campaign
The Road To Legends Campaign is designed to promote the launch of the F1 2022 driver lineup of our collectibles designed by toy designer, YARMS. The campaign utilises racing motifs and graphical elements in a futuristic style to reflect F1 as a technology-based sport. In Road To Legends, each driver's best accomplishment is also highlighted.
A graphic style guide is designed as well for uniform adaptation across various stakeholders.

CollectibleAllstar
Badges
To encourage our existing Mighty Allstars collectors to expand their collection with our brand, a badges program is launched within the Mighty Jaxx app. These badges are designed for sports fans across the racing and soccer fandoms. Each of our collectible is embedded with an NFC chip which can be scanned and registered to be shown in the app, as proof of a genuine product and for collection purposes. The more a collector owns products of a specific sport, they would receive higher-tiered badges which are displayed on their user profile.
